Southwest Florida through my Iphone’s Lens

One of my new favorite apps/social networks/addictions is Instragram. It’s an iPhone app that allows you to take and edit photos and share them with friends either through the app itself or by posting on Twitter and Facebook. I was staying on Marco Island on a business trip last month and instead of lugging my DSLR around during breaks or in that short time window between meetings and business meals, I documented the scenery with my iPhone.

Our event was held at the Marriott Marco Island Resort and they were all decked out for the holidays. This two story Christmas tree was featured in the main lobby.

The sprawling resort has multiple (heated) pools and the weather was fabulous for swimming. I love the waterfall here.

I caught as many sunsets as I could. Gotta love being on the “west coast” of Florida!

The resort grounds and powder white sand were heaven!

One night we had a sudden thunderstorm that sadly ruined an outdoor cocktail reception, but stirred up thousands of seashells which I discovered on the beach the next day.

I even found a starfish!

How do you like the pattern of this one?

I spent my final day after a week of grueling meetings poolside with a mojito, thinking about how great it was to be in a bikini after leaving freezing winter temperatures just a few days before. I also found out the organization had made plans to return to Marco Island again the same time next year, so I looked forward to returning with Roberto as I enjoyed this view.

I extended my trip through the weekend, and made my way up to Naples to spend the final night. Here’s the view from the Naples Pier.

I discovered a boutique hotel, The Inn at Pelican Bay, on my way towards Fort Myers Airport from Marco Island and stayed for the night. They had bikes to rent and ride to the beach, and I was in love with the sparkling lights in the bourganvilla arbor.

Time to go home to the cold.
